What are your safety protocols around COVID-19?
While we're able to stay open, it won't be business as usual. Although we've always maintained the highest standards for cleanliness and sanitation, there's a long list of changes we've made to our operations and to the float experience itself:
Some specific points about how we keep you safe:
All staff members and clients are masked/shielded unless they have a legitimate medical exemption in accordance with the mandatory mask by-law.
Reduced capacity - we've reduced our appointments by 50% in order to introduce large gaps between sessions. This prevents cross-over between clients coming and going and makes social distancing within our facility practical. The extra time allows for extended ventilation and for our staff to do a more thorough disinfection of the float rooms between clients.
All high contact surfaces (handles, switches, knobs, shelves) are sanitized between each use.
We also have an over-head, heavy duty HVAC unit in each float room working around the clock and have increased the frequency of filter replacement. Overall, we have invested thousands of dollars in air and surface decontamination technologies.
We've introduced hand sanitizer at the front desk, lounge area and amenities room. We ask all clients to wash their hands when they arrive.
You'll notice our staff will be asking whether or not you've experienced any flu-like symptoms within the past 24 hours as part of our screening process. As always, there's no penalty for a last minute cancelation or 'no-show'. We encourage everyone to stay home if they're feeling unwell. If you're unable to use your credit and miss an appointment, it will remain on your account for next time.
Limit of 1 person at a time at the vanity area.
It's also worth noting that our standard protocols for cleanliness and sanitation are extensive and include:
UV and ozone filtration is deployed between every single session. No client enters a room that hasn't been previously sanitized with UV and ozone. This helps kill contaminants in both the air and on surfaces. Our services and spaces are highly individualized.
Active ventilation in all float pods, throughout and in between sessions.
Active ventilation of all float rooms between clients.
All high-contact surfaces in the float rooms are disinfected between each client.
Is Floatation-REST categorized as an essential service?
As many of you know, Floatation-REST is a proven medical treatment for a wide range of physical and mental health conditions including chronic pain and clinical anxiety. Everyday, clients are referred by Dr. Paul Given and other registered healthcare practitioners who prescribe Floatation-REST to those suffering from the physical effects of everything from car accidents to mental health effects of conditions like PTSD, Anorexia-nervosa, chronic fatigue, and clinical anxiety disorder (please visit www.clinicalfloatation.com to explore the long list of academic papers that have established the clinical benefits of floating).
In addition to a viral pandemic, we are in a mental health crisis. As a culture, we're turning ourselves inside out to minimize the physiological risks of COVID-19. While that is naturally appropriate and imperative, we are at the same time largely ignoring two massive, related problems that many are experiencing in the process: a pandemic of chronic stress, and a huge wave of mental illness. These should not be ignored - unchecked, they will manifest as further physiological illness.
As a wellness and stress management center serving Kingston with therapies that directly help combat depression, anxiety, fatigue, chronic pain disorders, nervous system overwhelm, and the neurological harm that chronic stress and trauma can create, we feel we were made for 2020. Times like these are precisely why we decided to bring Floatation-REST to our community.
Is there wi-fi access available?

Do you allow children?
